Biography of Yoshkar Olya

My name is Mikhail. At the end of April, I moved to Yoshkar-Ola from Moscow, and I still live here and work. I sketched a little of my impressions from the city, maybe the local one will be interested in a view from the outside, and not the locals will get acquainted, become interested, come to visit. I myself come from Sevastopol, where I lived most of my life, so I can compare with different cities and climatic zones.

There are really a lot of trees and shrubs, a lot of lawns, they are in good condition, follow them.

Biography of Yoshkar Olya

This fall, for example, the old spruce was cut off next to the city administration building and new ones were planted now. The city has several parks, but after Moscow it does not seem very large, with the exception of the Pine Grove Park, which looks like Kuzminki Park in size and its “wildness”. It’s quite comfortable to walk here, diagonally the city can be walked in a couple of hours with a walking step.

Therefore, here, as in Moscow, you can plan the time to move - the distances are small, there are almost no traffic jams, you can be sure of your punctuality. If you are tired of Moscow or another big and noisy city, then you can take your soul to Yoshkar-Ola. There are very beautiful sunsets of course, the main issue related to Yoshkar-Ola is its city center and embankment, rebuilt in the last decade in the style of the Mari-Belgian Gothic.

This splendor looks quite pretty, brings diversity to the surrounding landscape of the Khrushchev and high -rise buildings, adds colors to everyday life. The only thing that upset in the embankment is its emptiness, but they seem to work on it. Add trees and benches. A lot of empty areas, a lot of space, people do not go boring, compressed. You do not need to get through the crowds, like in Gorky Park on a weekend.

And, of course, life itself here is much calmer and slower if you judge the street: pedestrians are in no hurry and do not run, but carefully make their way on ice on their business from November to April. In winter, the river completely freezes and the fishermen are driving fish there. Quizes here are 4 pieces of different franchises, in fact, every day you can go to some Quiz.

I don’t have enough cultural life, at least, but there are interesting sites and exhibitions Tower, Art Gallery, Arhaus. And in the spring the river rises very much. Unfortunately, only for a week due to the fact that the city is small less than the population in the city and more to the whole republic, large and well-known groups do not come here so often, but still it happens.

Sometimes there are problems to buy something, but this is what you expect from a small city. There are good coffee houses, tea, and their number is growing. Local, Mari cuisine is also interesting - but there are not many places where you can try it. The local cheese factory is especially appreciated in Sernur - and the cheese is really good there. A corporate dish is a hill climate cool, in my opinion, colder than in the same Moscow.

It is interesting that at least the neighboring Kazan is warmer, due to high humidity in winter there is colder than in Yoshkar-Ola. A comfortable minimum and in some aspects you can not get a minimum, and if you want to plunge into the rhythm of the metropolis, then you can get to Kazan in a couple of hours. If you have questions, you can ask. In general, I am a little sad here, because my friends are far away and we rarely see each other.

If there are residents of Yoshkar-Ola here, let's collect a chat for communication.
