Biography of Shakespeares father
Dmitry Ivanov John Shakespeare, father of William Shakespeare, was persecuted by the informants who accused him of non -payment of large fines in favor of the crown in the beginning of the 10ths. Due to these requirements, the property and business reputation of John Shakespeare have been in jeopardy for a long time. Parry managed to find 21 previously unknown document in the national archive of Great Britain regarding the father of the great playwright.
John Shakespeare died in a year, a resident of Stratford-on-Evone from the year, took possession of the respective craft of the gloved, that is, he went through a full course as an apprentice, joined the guild and opened his own workshop, and also traded various agricultural products, primarily with leather and wool. Since the year, his name is regularly found in the documents of the city corporation - first, becoming one of the two “Elya controllers”, two years later John Shakespeare took the oath as a constable, later became a member of the city municipality, performed the duties of one of the two treasurers of the city, in the year he became one of the four old -termmen Stratford, and he reached the peak of his career - he was chosen - he was elected peaks of his career.
Bailif, the head of the city corporation, for a period of one year. It is known that, becoming Beilif, he was going to petition for the assignment of a family coat of arms. His eldest son, the future playwright and poet William Shakespeare at that time was four years old. In the future, however, the affairs of John Shakespeare were staggered, and so far the scientists did not know how to explain this.
Next year, Shakespeare's father was not re -elected by Beilif, and although the city corporation resorted to his services for several years, since the year John stopped attending her meetings and, retroactively, was excluded from among its members. Since the year, Shakespeare's father sold the lands belonging to his family-apparently, he was in dire need of cash. In years, John was persecuted by the informants for participating in illegal transactions with wool and illegal engaging in usury.
Famous documents have still testified that in the year John managed to settle the disagreements in court. The informants of Common InFormers at that time called professional sutters that brought to those who evaded the payment of fines and other cash penalties in favor of the crown; The informant filed a lawsuit against the violator and, in the event of a win, could claim half of the collected amount or the debtor's collected property.
The crown used a network of informants throughout the country to strengthen the rule of law, but in the places of informants they hated for corruption, greed and illegibility in funds.
The name of John Shakespeare is mentioned among the royal bench fined for the failure to appear in the court to provide evidence of their loyalty to the crown and among those who evaded the church services such information from some scientists suggested that John Shakespeare was a secret catholic who did not want to participate in the Anglican worship; Others believed that he did not appear in the church out of fear of getting a summons in court.
In the entire history of the search for information related to the father of William Shakespeare, scientists managed to find only 15 documents of the 16th century. Professor Parry decided to continue the search in that part of the national archive that is stored in Cheshire salt mines. We are talking about little in demand and, largely not studied by archival documents composed in underground storage facilities, where low temperature and lack of humidity contribute to the safety of papers.
Starting from May, Professor Parry studied the content of more boxes, in each of which was stored from to documents, and found 21 a document previously unknown to the researchers. It turned out that in the year John Shakespeare was not able to satisfy the interest of the informants in his property, and they continued to pursue him up to a year. During this time, two dozen claims for different amounts were discharged against John, including about 20 thousand pounds for a large amount of pounds in modern money.
All this time, John Shakespeare's property was in danger, and his loan and business reputation were undermined. Professor Parry believes that these events made an indelible impression on William Shakespeare, who was already 19 years old. The corrupt system of informing, encouraged by the crown, according to the scientist, was supposed to strengthen the republican ideas, subtracted by young Shakespeare of ancient authors as Ovid, Horace, Tit Liby and Tacitus, which he read in the Stratford grammatical school.
In his works, addiction to honesty and justice to the detriment of strict observance of the letter of the law is felt, ”Parry told The Guardian. Parry has no doubt that further searches in Cheshire salt mines will allow you to find new historical documents related to the Shakespeare family. The finds made by Professor Parry are extremely important for modern Shakespeare, since the bulk of historical documents on which our knowledge of Shakespeare and his era is based was found in various archives in the first half of the twentieth century.
Since then, discoveries have become rare. In particular, we still do not know anything about the so -called “dark years” in the biography of the playwright - about which no documentary evidence has been preserved. Meanwhile, these were the key years in the fate of William Shakespeare - it was during this period that he, for reasons unknown to us today, left Stratford and moved to London, where he began to play in recently open commercial theaters and compose plays.
New documents may be shed light for this period - in particular, Professor Parry is currently working on Shakespeare's biography, covering time from his birth to a year. Parry has already handed over his findings to the public online archive of Shakespeare Documented, where digital copies of the documents were stored before 90, associated with the name of William Shakespeare.
