Biography of Platonova Yushka

Yushka Efim, nicknamed Yushka, worked in the forge of a small town for so long that the locals checked the clocks on him: the adults, seeing how he was going to work, woke the young, and when he was returning home, they said that it was time to dinner and sleep. Yushka lived in the kitchen with the owner of the forge, worked from early morning until late in the evening: he wore sand, water and coal in the forge, fired fire.
He was fed for his work and paid a small salary. Yushka did not spend his earned money, instead of tea with sugar, he drank empty water and wore the same clothes for many years. Advertising very often the children offended Yushka, beat him, threw stones, sand and earth at him, but he endured everything, was not offended and was not angry with them. Sometimes the children tried to angry Yushka so that he, like other adults, chased after them with a twig and amused them, but nothing came of them.
Yushka silently walked about his business, did not defend himself, and sometimes the children even doubted that he was alive. Adults broke evil on Yushka when they were drunk or offended, but he crushed and silently. From the Mole of Yushka, an adult came into bitterness and beat him more than he wanted at first, and in this evil he forgot his grief for a while. After beating, Yushka lay in the dust for a long time on the road.
Sometimes the daughter of the owner of the forge came, raised Yushka, took it home and told him: “It would be better if you died, Yushka ... Why do you live? Yushka replied that he could not die, because the people love him, but love "without a concept," because "the heart in people is blind." Yushka’s death every summer Yushka left the city for a month.
No one knew where exactly, and Yushka did not admit, called different places. People thought that he was visiting his beloved daughter, the same, like him, simple and unnecessary to anyone. On the way, Yushka was resting, breathing in clean air, admiring with white clouds, forests, beetles and butterflies, sniffing flowers, and tuberculosis for a while stopped tormenting him.
Advertising every year, because of his illness, Yushka became weaker. One summer, instead of leaving, Yushka stayed at home. That evening, he, as usual, returned from the forge and met a passerby who called Yushka “God's stuffed animal” and said that without him it would have become more fun on earth. For the first time, Yushka did not silently endure ridicule, but replied: “I was set to live, I was born according to the law, I also need the whole world, like you, without me, then it’s impossible!
.. The passerby did not like that Yushka compared him, wretched. He greatly pushed Yushka into the sore chest, he fell and did not rise anymore. The carpet passing by found Yushka and realized that he was dead - bleeding with the blood that poured out of his mouth. People have rejected you, and who is the judge! .. The owner of the forge buried Yushka. All the neighbors from his street came to the funeral, even those who offended him.
Now anger was not to tear off on whom they began to swear, and people began to swear more often. Not immediately the master-warehouse recalled that that was the name of Yushka. At first, everyone considered the girl Yushka’s daughter, but she turned out to be an orphan. Yushka took care of it, put it first in the Moscow family, then in the boarding house with training.
Every summer he went to the girl and gave all the money earned to her. Advertising knowing about Yushka’s illness, the girl learned to be a doctor and wanted to cure “the one who loved her more than anything and whom she herself loved with all the warmth and light of her heart.” She did not know that Yushka died - he simply did not come to her, and the girl went to look for him.
The blacksmith brought her to the cemetery. There, the girl fell to the ground in which the dead Yushka lay, the man who fed her from childhood, never eight sugar, so that she would eat him. The girl remained working in the city, helping people disinterestedly until old age. Everyone called her the “daughter of a good Yushka”, no longer remembering who Yushka is, and that she did not have a daughter.
