One of the comrades said that he saw in Moscow trading fairs that seemed extremely interesting to him from the point of view of the idea itself. Teplitsky grabbed the idea of trading from markets and fairs, which just by this time experienced heyday in Russia, enjoying very popularity among the population.
He realized that it was necessary to translate her into a civilized format. The idea of the construction and organization of special buildings was born, in which it would be possible to combine retail space with entertaining, by analogy with the malls widely developed in the West. For the Russian spontaneous trade market, this idea was fresh, but at that time serious study and, most importantly, financing at that time.
To organize it, Arkady agreed on partnership with businessman Igor Leitis. The party was so successful that partners are still conducting several large joint projects. They did not stop at one fair. Talking about the start of the business, Arkady Teplitsky recalls: we grew up on classic gangster films, and the first retail space and fairs were drawn on the knee.
Nevertheless, having created and worked out the launch scheme of fairs, the businessmen decided that it was time to move on to “civilized” trade. They decided to build shopping complexes of a new format, by analogy with the Western. The stores remaining from Soviet times for these purposes did not fit or demanded serious restructuring.
