Academician Shipunov Biography

He has hundreds of scientific works and inventions. Throughout his life, creating a weapon, the designer himself, however, considered it wildness that it was aimed at destroying, because he said that weapons should be aimed only at the protection of his native country. Arkady Georgievich Shipunov was born on November 7 in the city of Livna of the Oryol region.

Having survived the horrors of the Great Patriotic War as a teenager, he devoted his life to the defense of the country. This was his youthful dream - to create a weapon that can repel any attack and defeat the enemy. Therefore, after graduating from school in the year, Arkady entered the Machine -Building Department of the Tula Mechanical Institute, which graduated with honors in the year with a degree in Rifle and Artillery Systems and Installations.

In the same year, according to the distribution of the young engineer, he was sent to work at the Research Institute of Late - the Central Department Store of the Moscow Region, where he began his design and where he went from engineer to deputy chief engineer. Here, Shipunov’s cooperation began with V. Gryazev, which will last for many years. Already in the first year of work, they “painted” the first gun of which the creation of which was then considered a priority for the Research Institute, and over the next 5 years of work, the tandem of Gryazev’s tandem developed three guns, which were fundamentally different from the existing ones that rarely happens and which were subsequently adopted and formed the basis of work in the field of automatic guns.

In the year, Shipunov was appointed head and general designer to the Tula Central Design Bureau, later transformed into the state -owned enterprise “Design Bureau of Instrumentation” to which he led for up to a year, and then stayed here in senior positions. And a few years later, Mudzev was transferred there as well - to the post of deputy chief. And already here this tandem continued its activities, in fact, then the famous GS brand now appeared through the first letters of the surnames of the authors now.

It was the unprecedentedly high scientific and technical level of weapons, which was created by Shipunov in co-authorship with Gryazev, that predetermined the corresponding military-economic effect of the enterprise. The necessary scientific and technical prerequisites were created here, and on their basis, a unified system of domestic small-caliber artillery weapons, from small arms to high-precision missile systems, for all types of armed forces of the country, was implemented.

At the same time, Arkady Georgievich was not only a talented weapons designer, but also a competent organizer. Under his leadership, the “Design Bureau of Instrumentation” of the KBP became one of the leading design organizations of the Russian military-industrial complex, a powerful, high-tech and innovative center, gaining worldwide fame and authority. And Shipunov himself became the founder of the modern scientific and design school of designing a high-precision managed and infantry-gun weapons.

Under his leadership and on the basis of his design decisions and ideas, a number of samples of rocket, artillery and small arms were developed, including the Aviation guns of the General Staff of which almost all Soviet, and then Russian aircraft, 2A42 are used on BMP and helicopters, GSS, GSSh, as well as a GSS pistol among other developments: anti -tank missile systems: anti -tank missile systems “Metis”, “Cornet”, “Competition”, controlled weapons for the BMP-3 and BMD-4, tanks, anti-aircraft missile and gun complexes “Tunguska”, “Pankir-C1”, “Kashtan” and many others.

In total, over the years of Shipunov’s work in the Tula KBP, more than 70 various systems were developed that became the basis of the domestic rifle-gun weapons of our army, many of them were significantly superior and are now surpassing foreign analogues. And high tactical and technical characteristics, low cost and unification of new small arms made it possible to master their serial production in a short time and supply both the army and other law enforcement agencies.

In addition, the results of scientific research and developments of Shipunov are today widely used in the creation of civilian products of metalworking and sewing equipment, medical laser devices, and biotechnological industries. In parallel with the design and leading work, Arkady Georgievich was engaged in scientific work. Back in the year, he became a candidate of technical sciences, in M ​​he defended his doctoral dissertation, in the year he became a professor, he was elected academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and then many other academies.

Shipunov is the author of fundamental works in the field of the strength of machines, dynamics, theory of design and design, automatic control and system analysis. On his account - from above inventions and hundreds of scientific works of publications, monographs, textbooks, books. He also headed the department “Design of automated complexes” at Tula State University.

The fruitful activity of Arkady Georgievich was marked by various awards.Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of state prizes - he was awarded many state and scientific awards, including other countries. He was also an honorary citizen of Tula and the Tula region, as well as an honorary citizen of the city of Livna. Until the end of his days, Shipunov was full of plans, generated ideas, proposed new areas of the enterprise, continuing labor and scientific activities.

He was always free in the expression of thoughts, creativity, work, which helped him create unique developments. But in recent years, the designer has been seriously ill ...
